Melissa Akins Obituary
Melissa Veloria Akins, age 59, a resident of Columbia, went to her heavenly home on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at her residence.
A home going service will be held on Friday August 15, 2025 at 1PM at Heritage Funeral Home. A lie in state will also be held on Friday from 11AM-1PM at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Pinecrest Memorial Gardens. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on August 28, 1965 in Columbia, Melissa was the daughter of the late Albert Akins Jr. and the late Mary Johnson Akins. She enjoyed traveling with her sister, spending time with her beloved niece, reading, and spending time with her family and friends. Melissa was loved dearly and will be missed tremendously by all who knew and loved her.
She is survived by her sister, Monica Maclin, niece, Jasmine Maclin, and several aunts, uncles, cousins, and best friends, Phillys Mozee, Patsy Kenzer, Evette Hooks, and Kathy Hardiman..
