Melissa Ann Carter was called home to be with our loving Lord and Savior on Monday, October 20, 2025. Born on October 10, 1977, to her devoted parents Rick and Fiama Jones, Melissa was a proud member of the Graford community and a light in the lives of everyone who knew her.
On August 27, 1994, Melissa married the love of her life, Michael Carter. Together, they shared 31 beautiful years filled with love, laughter, and cherished memories. Their greatest joy came in the form of their two children, Cole Ryder and Hailey Marie, whom Melissa loved beyond measure. In recent years, Melissa embraced her most treasured title of all-Lolli-to her beloved grandchildren, Laramie "Larry", Michael Shane, Wrenleigh, and Karston.
Melissa was a vibrant, outgoing spirit—you heard her before you saw her, and you were always glad you did. She had a God-given talent for making people laugh, feel seen, and feel loved. A woman of many gifts, Melissa had a special connection with animals—her blue heeler Hooey and her one-of-a-kind cat Mason, being just two examples of her heart for all creatures.
Creativity flowed through every part of her life. From hair to mural art to seasonal window paintings downtown and at the Café, Melissa's artistry brought joy and color to the community. Yet above all, what defined Melissa most was her fierce and unwavering love for the Lord, her family, and the power of prayer. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, and now she is rejoicing in Heaven worshipping, asking all the questions, touching everything she can, and no doubt sipping a Dr. Pepper as she walks the streets of gold.
Melissa Ann is survived by her husband of 31 years, Michael Carter; daughter, Hailey Carter; son, Cole Carter (Korie); parents, Rick and Fiama Jones; father-in-law, Michael Carter, Sr (Bonnie); grandchildren, Laramie, Michael Shane, Wrenleigh, and Karston; brother-in-law, Jimmy Carter (Jayme); numerous nieces and nephews; children she claimed as her own; and an army of friends that became family that will continue her work here on earth.
Melissa will be deeply missed but her spirit remains in all our hearts.
Services will be held at 2pm, Sunday, October 26, 2025, at The Grounds in Downtown Graford, Tx. There will be a meal to follow at the Graford Lions Club.
