MELISSA "LISA" CORKRAN HICKORY – Melissa "Lisa" Annette Gibbs Corkran, 53, passed away December 27, 2013 at her residence. She was born in Rutherford County, the daughter of Roger Gibbs and Judy Moretz. She attended New Testament Church, attended Fred T. Foard High School and was a graduate of CVCC. She had formerly worked at Grace Hospital, Sherrills Furniture and C. R. Lane Furniture. A big-hearted person who loved everyone, she enjoyed swimming and water sports. She was a free-spirited person who was a "mother to all" and is preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Roger Gibbs and two nephews, Jason and Ethan Gibbs. Survivors include a daughter, Jessica Perryman of Connelly Springs; a son, Benjamin Corkran of Hickory; her mother, Judy Mortez of Hickory; her father, Roger Gibbs of Marion; two brothers, Daniel Gibbs and wife, Cynthia of Hickory and Mark Gibbs and wife, Christie of Hickory; two grandchildren, Bishop Willis and Meilah Finger and many nieces, nephews and friends. A funeral service will be held at 4 pm on Wednesday, January 1, 2014 at Catawba Funerals & Cremations. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends prior to the service at the funeral home from 3 – 4 pm. Condolences may be left at www.catawbamemorialpark.com. Catawba Memorial Park, Funerals & Cremations are providing professional services to the Corkran Family.
