Melissa Ann Dietz, lovingly known as Missy, passed away suddenly from heart failure on June 13, 2023, at the age of 57. She resided in
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, where she touched the lives of many with her lively spirit and unwavering love. Missy was born on July 11, 1965, to Judy and Jim Maybank, and she grew up alongside her sister Mindy Marr and brother Pete Maybank.
Missy was a devoted wife to Kevin Dietz for nearly 32 beautiful years. A partnership filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished memories. Together, they built a strong foundation of love and support that remains a testament to their enduring bond.
As a mother, Missy's nurturing nature and boundless love were the cornerstones of her family. She leaves behind three adoring children, Kevin, Isabelle, and Lexi, who were the joy of her life. Missy took great pride in witnessing their growth and accomplishments, always providing unwavering encouragement and guidance along their paths. She was proceeded in death by numerous in-laws, nieces, and nephews who held a special place in her heart.
Missy was a woman of many passions and talents. She had a keen intellect and a love for learning, embodying a curiosity about the world around her. An accomplished athlete, Missy not only excelled in her own athletic pursuits but also found joy in coaching others. She touched the lives of many aspiring athletes through her coaching, instilling in them the values of teamwork, dedication, and perseverance.
Beyond her love for sports, Missy had a compassionate heart and dedicated her time to tutoring neighborhood children, helping them reach their fullest potential academically. Her dedication and patience as an educator made a lasting impact on the lives of those she mentored.
Missy's dedication to education was evident throughout her life. She graduated with honors from Cheboygan High School, setting the stage for her future successes. She furthered her academic journey at Michigan Tech University, where she earned her Mathematics degree, again with honors. Missy's thirst for knowledge led her to pursue a Master's in Business Administration at Lake Superior State University.
Professionally, Missy made an indelible mark as an account director at Morley Companies in
Saginaw, Michigan, where she dedicated over 20 years of her career. Her exceptional work ethic, strategic acumen, and unwavering commitment to excellence earned her the respect and admiration of colleagues and clients alike. Missy's contributions to the company were invaluable, and her impact will continue to be felt by those fortunate enough to work alongside her.
Missy's faith was an integral part of her life and she found strength in her daily readings of the Bible. Her unwavering belief and deep connection with her spirituality guided her actions and provided comfort during difficult times.
Known for her infectious laughter and vivacious personality, Missy had an uncanny ability to bring joy and light to any room. She had a zest for life and a love for adventure, always seeking new experiences and exploring the world around her. Her presence alone was enough to make any gathering feel like a celebration.
Missy's determination and leadership skills were evident in all aspects of her life. She held the esteemed role of CEO of the Dietz family, skillfully managing the daily tasks and creating a loving and harmonious home. Her dedication to her family was unmatched, and her impact will forever be felt in the hearts of those she leaves behind.
A viewing will be held on Friday, June 16th, from 2 pm to 8 pm, with a Rosary at 7 pm, at A.J. Desmond & Sons Funeral Home (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), located at 32515 Woodward Ave. in
Royal Oak, Michigan.
The Funeral Mass will take place, Saturday, June 17th at 10:30 am at St. Hugo of the Hills Church, located at 2215 Opdyke Rd. in
Bloomfield Hills, Michigan; visiting prior begins at 10:00 am. We look forward to friends and family gathering to honor and celebrate Missy's remarkable life. Please know you are welcome to watch the Funeral Mass via Livestream on the church's website at St. Hugo of the Hills.
