Melissa Joy Galloway

With sure hope and faith in the resurrection of Jesus Christ we prayerfully announce the passing of Melissa Joy Galloway on February 2, 2026 after a courageous battle with cancer. Melissa used her cancer to proclaim her faith in the Lord declaring His sovereignty in her life. Her courage, determination and positive attitude proved to be an inspiration to us all.

Melissa was a real estate paralegal in Union County. Despite all the challenges she loved it. She enjoyed the people and shared special relationships with many who shared her interests from NASCAR, sports and politics. Many fun filled time was spent debating coaches and plays of various teams. She loved her Pittsburgh Penguins and enjoyed having a Rangers' fan on hand to compete. She loved her alma mater UNCC as well as her daughter's alma mater NCSU. She was a great supporter of our military especially the Marine Corps of which her father and son-in-law served.

Melissa's greatest love was her daughter Jessica. They shared an intimate relationship based on love and respect. A role model for all mothers and daughters. We would be remiss without mentioning her cat Sky with nuisance cries but lots of love.

A celebration of life will be held February 14, 2026 at 2:00 at Siler Presbyterian Church, 6301 Weddington Road, Wesley Chapel with a cookie reception following. A microphone will be set up for stories of Melissa. Please participate.

Left behind to celebrate Melissa are her daughter Jessica Funderburk and husband Dale, twin grandsons David and Matthew, parents Ron and Dianne Galloway, sister Stephanie Galloway. Special shout out to Aunt Phyllis Bryom who did whatever she could to make her life with cancer better from food to a remote vacuum but mostly visits.

Many thanks to Michael Krauter our pastor at Siler for his love and guidance during this difficult time. And to those who diligently prayed for us and Melissa.
