Melissa GANTNEY Obituary

April 19, 1958 - June 3, 2024

Spokane - Melissa Renee Gantney, 66, of Spokane, Washington, died Monday, June 3rd, 2024. She was born to Byron Herbert Fowler and Janice Ann Lisle on April 19th, 1958, in Denver, Colorado, where she spent her formative years. The next phase of her life saw her settling in Southern California to raise her family, develop a career in health care, and establish herself as a devout follower of Christ. For the last 15 years, Mel was in Spokane, enriching the lives of those around her in her church and broader communities. A warm and generous soul, she will be remembered for her creativity, her respect for tradition, and her unfailing loyalty.

She is survived by her children: Renee Aline San Pedro, Spokane; Claire Harmony Waterhouse, Ashland, Oregon; Genevieve Marie Gantney, Claremont, California; Nicole Therese Gantney, Arcata, California; and Miles Jeremiah Gantney, Sydney, Australia; her grandchildren: Austin Michael Waterhouse, San Diego, California; Sean Jayson San Pedro, Spokane; Braeden David San Pedro, Spokane; Ginger Inez Gantney Zertuche, Claremont, California; and Iris Yanjin Gantney-Lau; and her siblings: Catherine Roxanne Fowler and Jeffrey Alan Fowler, both of Ulysses, Kansas.

A memorial service will be held at 1:30 PM, on Friday, June 28th, at Audubon Park United Methodist Church, 3908 N. Driscoll Blvd., Spokane, WA 99205.
