Melissa (Lisa) Ann Cherry Grimes, age 60, of Bowling Green, Kentucky, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on February 1, 2025, after a courageous battle with progressive dementia. She was welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior, Christ.
Born on January 11, 1965, to the late H.B. Cherry and Novice Cosby, Melissa was a proud graduate of Warren East High School and Western Kentucky University, where she earned her Bachelor's degree in Nursing. Melissa dedicated her life to caring for others as an oncology nurse at The Medical Center at Bowling Green, where she retired after many years of service.
A member of Penns Chapel Church of Christ, Melissa's faith was a cornerstone of her life. She found great joy in her family and adored spending time with her loved ones. As a mother and grandmother (affectionately known as Mimi), she will be remembered for her unwavering love, kindness, and gentle spirit.
Melissa is survived by her son, William Basham (Britany), and daughter, Jannah Grimes; grandchildren, Skyler, Addison, and Isaac; four sisters, Sheri Page Henderson, Tammy Cherry, Sandra Simpson, and Tonya (Little John) Flowers; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her second father, Ronnie Cosby, and her beloved grandparents, Herbert and Anna Cherry, and John and Alma Lee.
Melissa's family and friends will cherish her memory forever, and her legacy of love and service to others will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
Visitation will be Tuesday February 4, 2025 from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the J.C. Kirby & Son Lovers Lane Chapel. Funeral Service will begin at 2:00 PM followed by burial in the Bowling Green Gardens.
