Melissa Ann Broussard Guillote 58, passed away unexpectedly Saturday August 24, 2024 in her home in LeBleu Settlement, La. She was born on August 17, 1966.
Melissa was born to Lovinia Johnson Huval and Harvey Broussard, where she grew up in LeBleu Settlement and would later raise her children and grandchildren. Missy worked throughout the community at Nonnies, later moving on to Kroger's, and Stines was her last job before taking on raising grandchildren full time.
Melissa/ Missy or as many have grown to know her simply as Mama Missy Speaking of titles missy held a few in her day.
She has been a devoted daughter, a wild teenager, a comforting mother, a true and loyal friend, and a spoiling grandmother. An avid bingo player, and bargain shopper.
Anyone that knew her could look at her and missy would say "if you don't believe it, just ask me. Oh wait, I'm afraid it's too late for questions, Sorry." Everyone always knew where you stood with her. She liked you or she didn't, it was black or white. As for her children we are still trying to figure out which one it was that was her favorite "(we know she loved us, but secretly knew it was Her Damn Cat, and her nieces, Jen and Ashley)."
Missy was world-renowned for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion, being the "handicap police" and a knack for telling it like it is. She always told you the truth even if it wasn't what you wanted to hear.
Missy was proceeded in death by her parents; brother, Darrell Broussard Sr. and her sweet bingo partner, Dalonna Saloom.
She leaves behind a very dysfunctional family that she was very proud of; children, Sarah Laird (Jeremey), Michael Guillote Jr. (Heather Roach); grandchildren, Gracie, Leland, Sophie, Kasie, Emma, Abby, Cain, her hurricane."; her siblings, Leona, Leatrice, Eva, Brenda, William, and Dennis. A host of nieces, nephews and godchildren; and very best friends, Carrie and Amanda.
This would be just like Missy, and we would not put this past her just so she had "to avoid having to make a decision in the pending presidential election." We hear her loudly laughing at us saying, "I might be gone but I am still not Democrat!"
Cremation is under the direction of Johnson & Brown Funeral Home of Iowa. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
