SWANTON – Melissa A. Longe, age 67 passed away on Friday August 16th, 2024, at Northwestern Medical Center, surrounded by her family.
Melissa was born on June 20, 1957, in Hartford, Connecticut to James Corcoran and Ruth Hoag.
Melissa's passion for caring for children led her to become a self-employed childcare provider, where she positively impacted the lives of many youngsters over the years. Melissa dedicated herself to nurturing and guiding the children under her care with unwavering kindness and love. Outside of her professional life, Melissa found joy in simple pleasures. She loved looking out the window at her flowers and the birds that stopped by every day. She was known for her love of holiday gatherings with her family, where she could be found baking cookies and enjoyed making her favorite meal, mac and cheese. Melissa also cherished moments spent playing cards and bingo, finding happiness in the company of her loved ones.
Melissa is survived by her husband of 49 years, Gary J. Longe; son, Gary A. Longe; mother, Ruth Sylvester; brother, Mark Corcoran & his fiancé, Nicky, John Corcoran and his partner Abby; sisters, Heidi Wener, and Becky Gonyea; sisters-in-law, Vicky Lombardo and her husband Albert, Tammy Reid and her husband Robert, Nancy Longe and her partner, Alan, and Peggy Longe; brother-in-law, Ricky Longe and his wife Sheree; and many nieces and nephews.
A special thank you to the Lampman family, Tim and Kathy Girard, Teri Elliot, Randy and Doreen Laflam and many other close friends for their support. An extended thank you to the members of Missisquoi Valley Rescue and Swanton Fire Department.
Friends and family will be invited to Melissa’s life celebration events to include a visitation on August 24th, 2024, from 12-2:00PM with a funeral service following at 2:00PM at the Goss Life Celebration Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT 05488.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Melissa’s memory can be made to St. Jude’s Children's Research Hospital 501 St. Jude’s Place Memphis, TN 38105.
