Born in Fort Worth, Texas, on July 23, 1973, Melissa Gayle Madera passed away peacefully on Monday, April 28, at the age of 51. She moved to Gorman, Texas, with her family in 1986, where she spent the rest of her life and where she built a loving home with her devoted husband, Genaro Madera, and raised their two children, Yulissa Majors and Genaro Madera Jr.

Melissa was a woman of deep love, strength, and quiet grace. She was a constant source of support and joy to her family and friends, and her kindness and laughter will be remembered by all who knew her. Her greatest pride and joy were her two precious granddaughters, Macie Rae and Lanie Mae Majors, with whom she shared a special and unbreakable bond.

Melissa is survived by her husband, Genaro; her children, Yulissa (Mathew) Majors and Genaro Madera Jr.; her grandchildren, Macie Rae and Lanie Mae Majors; her parents, Nick and Jackie Gailey; her siblings, Bryan and Rachel Mayfield; her sister-in-law, Skyler Seaton; her niece, Rayleigh Hutchison; her nephews, Raiden Moreno and Hunter and Gage Seaton; and her bonus Nana, Margaret Gailey.

Melissa is preceded in death by her grandparents, Cotton and Joyce Hurst; her mother-in-law, Maria Madera; her father-in-law, Zenon Madera; and her bonus grandparents, Bob Gailey and T.J. and Joanne Mayfield.

She will be deeply missed by her extended family and all whose lives she touched.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 30, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Higginbotham Funeral Home in Gorman, Texas. The funeral service will follow at Higginbotham Funeral Home on Thursday, May 1, at 10:00 a.m.

Though she is no longer with us, Melissa's love, light, and legacy will continue to shine through the lives of those she cherished most. Melissa's family invites all who knew and loved her to join in celebrating a life that was truly a blessing to all who had the honor of knowing her.
