Melissa McVickers Obituary
Melissa "Lisa" Ann McVickers, 61, of Parkton, North Carolina, passed away on December 24, 2023 surrounded by her family.
Lisa was born in Cumberland County on December 19, 1962 to the late Edgar Drake Johnson and Doris Ann Brisson.
She is survived by husband, Donald Trent McVickers; son, Dennis Matthew Parnell; daughter, Chelsea Ellis and husband Terin; grandson, Mack Ellis; mother, Doris Ann Underwood; sister, Mary Beth Largent; and a large extended family.
Lisa graduated from Parkton High School in 1981 and received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1985. For over 35 years, Lisa worked as a nurse in various capacities at Southeastern Regional Medical Center and Womack Army Medical Center until she retired in 2021.
Lisa enjoyed being with her family, spending time at her home on the NC coast, birdwatching, rescuing dogs, dancing specifically shagging, gardening, cheering on the Tar Heels, and planning the perfect party. Lisa's love of the Lord was her greatest joy.
The family will receive friends Saturday, December 30th from 12:00pm-2:00pm at Rockfish Church followed by a memorial service at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rockfish Church.

Lisa was a God inspired awesome woman and friend. I worked with her at the Intrepid Spirit at Fort Bragg/Liberty. She was the best Nurse Case Manager, her patients were informed and educated. Her smile and personality were contagious. She was an Angel while she was on earth. My condolences to Trent.
