Melissa Lynn Brumley Messer, 58, widow of Jack Perry Messer, Jr., of Wolfe Street, Nicholasville, passed away Tuesday, July 9, 2024, in Lexington, Kentucky. She was born in Lexington on February 22, 1966, to Janice Fitzpatrick Starr and the late Charles Starr. She is survived by her sons, Danny Ray Brumley, Jr., and Brandon Ray Brumley (Mary); daughter, Shannon Lynn Brumley (Derrick Foresman); brother, Kenneth Starr; sister, Michelle Starr; nieces, Alisha Starr, and Ashley Starr Jacobs; great-nephew, Jaxtyn Starr; and grandchildren, Raylynn Foresman, Luke Foresman, Heavenlee Brumley, Brandon "Bam Bam" Brumley, Izzabella Walters Stansell, Darrell Roseberry, Michael Wells, and Malachi Wells. She is preceded by her husband, Jack, and her father, Charles. Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Thursday, July 18, at Betts & West Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Spurlock officiating. Burial will follow at Camp Nelson National Cemetery, where bearers will be Danny Brumley, Brandon Brumley, Kenneth Starr, Mary Brumley, and Gary Webb. Visitation will be held from 11:00 AM until the time of service, Thursday, at the funeral home. Betts & West is honored to serve Melissa and her family in their time of need.
