It is with heavy hearts that we share the passing of Melissa Victoria Erickson Smith, who left this world on January 24, 2026. Melissa was known for her deep love of family and friends, and for the joy, beauty, and kindness she brought into the lives of all who knew her.
Melissa was born on June 2, 1984, in Sandy, Utah, the beloved daughter of Ronald and Victoria Erickson. She found joy in camping, fishing, boating, listening to and performing music, beauty pageants, and Irish step dancing.
Melissa was married for time and all eternity to Daniel Joseph Smith. Together they were blessed with seven children, who were the center of her life:
Isabella O. Smith (13)
Elijah R. Smith (12)
Aurora M. Smith (8)
Sebastian D. Smith (7)
Xavier R. Smith (5)
Zealand S. Smith (2)
Ariana L. Smith (1)
Melissa’s love for her children knew no bounds. She believed motherhood was the highest calling of her life and drew continual strength and inspiration from prayer as she lovingly nurtured and guided her family.
Melissa is survived by her loving husband, Daniel Joseph Smith; her parents, Ronald and Victoria Erickson of Los Banos, California; and her brothers, Christopher A. Erickson of Salt Lake City, Utah, Adam R. Erickson of Chicago, Illinois, and Tyler W. Erickson of Los Banos, California.
Melissa did not measure success by wealth, but by devotion to her family as a wife and mother. She would wish to be remembered for the beauty she brought into this world through her kindness, love, strength, and devotion.
Services will be held on Monday, February 9, 2026 at 11 am at Anderson & Goff Mortuary, 11859 South 700 East, Draper, Utah, with a viewing from 9:00-10:45 am. Interment, Utah Veterans Memorial Park.
