Melissa Dawn Twenter

Melissa Dawn Twenter, 47, of Columbia, Missouri, passed away on November 27, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on July 1, 1978, in Columbia to Mark and Peggy Whobrey, who survive her.
Melissa lived her life with a vibrant spirit and a tender heart. She had a deep dislike for dust-so much so that her home was always immaculate, something friends and family lovingly teased her about. She found joy in the arts and expressed herself through music, poetry, drawing, and all things crafty. Her handmade DIY Christmas gnomes became cherished keepsakes for those lucky enough to receive them.
A fierce advocate for the underdog, Melissa stood up for others without hesitation. Her compassion, loyalty, and unwavering love were hallmarks of who she was. More than anything, she loved her children, her family, and her grandchildren. They were the center of her world, and she poured her heart into them every day.
Melissa was a devoted mother to her sons Perry Twenter and Raven (Jewel) Twenter, and to her daughter Journey (Demetrick) Rhodes. She adored her grandchildren, Aspen and Jeremy, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her brother John (Eva) Whobrey, her sister Sara (Joe) Kane, her nephew John, and her nieces Kayla and Courtney.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents John and Mildred Whobrey, and Russell and Betty Rodgers.
Melissa will be remembered for her creativity, her humor, her strength, and the love she gave so freely. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness and courage that will continue to live on in those who loved her.
Family will receive friends on Saturday December 6, 2025 from 3:00 pm until the time of service at 4:00 pm at the Family Worship Center - COMO 4925 E Bonne Femme Church Rd, Columbia, MO 65201
