Melissa D. Weiss, age 52, of Powell, went to be with the Lord Thursday, July 4, 2024.
Melissa was born in 1971 in Dayton, Ohio. She grew up outside of Brookville, attended nursing school at Sinclair Community College, and worked for Little Sisters of the Poor. She loved God, her family, chubby birds, tea rooms, and historical dramas. After a career in nursing, she devoted her life to raising her daughter. Her generous heart allowed her to always put the needs of others first. Melissa was greeted in Heaven by her mother, Carol Gourlas. She will be missed by her husband of 30 years, John Weiss; daughter, Olivia Weiss; father, Demosthenes (Jane) Gourlas; brothers, Jason (Valerie) Gourlas and Micah Gourlas; and loving friends and extended family. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, July 10, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Rutherford Funeral Home at Powell, 450 W. Olentangy St, Powell, OH 43065. The service will take place at the funeral home on Thursday, July 11, at 10:30 a.m., followed by the burial at Resurrection Cemetery.
