Melodie Desmarais Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 29, 2025.
Melodie Emery Desmarais, 67, of Raymond, NH, passed away peacefully on August 26, 2025, after a period of declining health.

She was born on January 26, 1958, in Exeter, NH, daughter of the late Leslie Emery and Eleanor (Spaulding) Emery. Melodie grew up in Fremont, NH, as one of eight children in a large, close-knit family.

Melodie first met the love of her life, Rusty Desmarais, through a friend even though the two had known each other since their school days. Their friendship blossomed into a lifelong partnership filled with love, devotion, and family.

Throughout her career, Melodie was admired for her strong work ethic, speed, and attention to detail. She worked as a gold plater for Hadco Co. in Derry and as a ward aide at Rockingham County Nursing Home in Brentwood. No matter the role, she was dedicated and dependable. It was only when her health made walking difficult that she was forced to retire.

At home, Melodie's warmth was often expressed through her cooking and baking. She was well-known for her delicious sweets-especially her famous pies and peanut butter fudge-which brought joy to family and friends. She also enjoyed knitting and relaxing with computer games in her downtime.

Family was at the center of Melodie's life, and she took great pride in being a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Brian Emery.

She is survived by her devoted husband, Rusty Desmarais; her daughters, Melaine and her husband Derek Hartford, and Leslie Desmarais and her fiance David Hall; her beloved grandsons, Colby Lauder, Kaiden Hall, Clayton Smallwood-Hall, Nathaniel Hartford, Preston Hartford, and Jonathan Hartford; her great-grandson, Ashton Smallwood-Hall; her siblings, Gary Emery, Lorraine and her husband David Shaw, Ron and his wife Elaine Emery, Sheri Ward, Steve Emery, and Tracey Emery; along with many nieces, nephews, and extended family.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be held for anyone who would like to attend on Saturday, September 6, 2025, at 3:00 PM at the Village Cemetery, Main St., Fremont, NH.

Flowers are welcome.
