Melody Sue Wahl Jeglum passed away on Saturday September 27, 2025 after a 7 month battle with Glioblastoma.
Mel was born January 5, 1977 to Marita (Hughes) Wahl and the late Meldan Wahl.
She graduated from Pecatonica High School in 1995 and from MATC in 2000 with a degree in Dental Hygiene.
She worked at Dental Health Associates in Madison and then followed up in Mt. Horeb with Doctors: Greg Paprocki, David Besley, and Amanda Hatch.
Mel married Scott Alderman in 2001 and together they had a daughter Kassidi Alderman. She married Jon Jeglum on September 15, 2007. The two had a daughter Reese Jeglum and adopted brothers Haiden & Jaiden Jeglum.
Mel and Jon loved to travel. Las Vegas was a favorite along with Spring Break trips and trips to Mexico, Florida, and Alabama.
They followed their kid's sports and activities faithfully. Mel loved being a grandma, her grandson Knoxan was a joy to her. Her life also revolved around her family and friends.
Mel is survived by her husband, Jon Jeglum, daughters Kassidi and Reese, sons Haiden & Jaiden, and grandson Knoxan Ferguson. She is further survived by her parents Marita & Dave Olson, sister Missy Olson (Dave Buckingham), and in-laws Mike & Barb Jeglum. She is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins, brothers & sisters in law, nieces & nephews, and extended family & friends.
She was proceeded in death by her father Meldan Wahl, baby Riley Jeglum, brothers Cody Olson and Jeremy Olson. Grandparents Paul & Mary Hughes, Vernus & Irene Olson. Maurice & Hedy Wahl, Aunt Melissa Hughes, and many others too numerous to mention.
Mel touched the lives of so many. She was a loving & caring wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all, we love you Mel.
A Visitation will be held from 9:00am-1:30pm on Saturday October 4, 2025 at Blanchard Hall, 206 S Main St. in Blanchardville. A short service will follow at 1:30pm led by Pastor Jared Parmley of Immanuel Lutheran Church of Mt. Horeb. The service will be live cast for the public on the Saether Funeral Service Facebook page. A Celebration of Life will follow at Husies Bar and Grill, across the street from Blanchard Hall. Mel was not a fan of plants/flowers, so in lieu of flowers, donations can be made for cancer/Glioblastoma research on The UW Foundation website, secure.supportuw.org/give/ giving towards any of the following research programs: American Family Children's Hospital, Excellence in Hematology/Oncology, Brain Cancer Research, or Neurology Research and Education.
