Melody was born on September 13, 1956, in Brownwood, Texas, Melody was the daughter of the late Audie and Betty Cathey. She graduated from Marana High School in Arizona in 1975. Melody met the love of her life, Randy Thames, in Bisbee, Arizona, in 1971, and the two were married on May 11, 1976. Together, they built a beautiful life and raised three daughters.
Melody pursued her passion for caring for others by earning her nursing degree from Ranger Junior College, graduating in 1983. She later completed her RN at Howard College in Big Spring. Nursing was more than a career to Melody-it was a calling. Over her year career, she touched countless lives with her compassion, dedication, and gentle strength, values she passed on to her daughters. After retiring in 2019, Melody embraced the joys of gardening and cherished every opportunity to watch her grandchildren play sports and participate in school activities. Her family was her greatest pride.
