Mrs. Meloney Smith, age 80, was born June 8, 1945, in Blount County Alabama and raised by her parents, James Willie and Bertha Mount Alldredge, in The Rock Springs Community. Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, John Lee Smith, her son, Michael, her sister Betty Atchley, and her brothers, Odean and James Alldredge.
She was an active member of Jehovah's Witness until her death on October 14, 2025, and was baptized in 1968 in Miami, Florida. Since then, her life spent as a volunteer and pioneer will not go unnoticed for she has helped many learn the wonderful truths found in the Bible about God. Meloney enjoyed telling stories and writing about her experiences of growing up in Alabama. Some of these stories have been compiled and published and are left in the care of her granddaughters.
Mrs. Smith is survived by her children, Tammy Davis, Guntersville; Shane (Retta) Smith, Horton; Lori (Simon) Zhou, Tennessee; grandchildren, Hali (Joseph) West, Hunter Mason, Jessica Ogle, Nashea Mayo, Kelly Jennings, Ada Smith; great grandchildren: Brently, Ava, Haven, Anthony,Taylor, Layla and Dani, great-great grandchild, Leray; sister, Barbara (William) Hill, nephew, Zack and niece, Jessica.
Her burial will be at Rock Springs Cemetery in Blountsville, Alabama.
