The family of Melva Louise James will host a gathering of family and friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Monday, April 3, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel and Memorial Designers. A service to celebrate her life of 94 years is scheduled at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at Lake Ridge Chapel, followed by a graveside service at Resthaven Memorial Park. Melva L. James was born January 9, 1929, to Carl and Maxie L. (Cole) Teeter in Russellville, Arkansas on Crow mountain. She married Lowery James in 1947 on the Teeter family farm in New Deal, Texas.
Mrs. James is survived by her children, Gary James and partner, Debbie; and Tonya (Larry) Stokes; six grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and a brother, Carl (Maryann) Teeter.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Lowery; her parents, Carl and Maxie Teeter; and a sister, Ruth Chandler.
