Melvalene “Melly” Wegerer, age 82, of Ellsworth, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on July 18, 2025, surrounded by love.
Born on July 15, 1943, in Taylors Falls, Minnesota, to Michael and Hazel Holland, Melly grew up in the town she held dear. Melly was a devoted mother and proud grandmother, Melly was known for her warmth, her sense of humor, and her deep commitment to family. She was a natural caretaker who ensured those around her felt seen, supported, and loved.
Melly spent many years as a dedicated employee working for local businesses including; Kwik Trip, Speed Way, Sonny's Bar, East Ender, El Paso, and The Hitching Post. Throughout her lifetime Melly experienced many friendships and shared many cherished memories. Most people who knew her would choose to simply call her Mom. Melly was known for her warmth, her sense of humor, and her deep commitment to family. She was a natural caretaker who ensured those around her felt seen, supported, and loved.
She found joy in simple pleasures—gardening her favorite flower roses, sharing stories, putting and later in life, enjoying watching her grandchildren and making spontaneous trips to the casino. Melly had a gift for making others feel welcome, and her kind spirit touched the hearts of many in her community.
Melly is lovingly survived her sister Patricia (Joseph) Hesse, her children: Bob (Debra) Gabert, Russell (Darcy) Gabert, Shelly Shaw, and JoAnn Gabert; her grandchildren: Dustin (Kathy) Gabert, Tabatha (Travis) Bensen, Brandon Shaw, Samantha Rohl, and Brooklyn Gabert; and her 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Arthur, and her brothers and sisters.
A private burial will take place at Maple Grove Cemetery. Melly will be remembered for the light she brought into the lives of others—her generous heart, lively spirit, and unwavering love for her family.
