Melveis Floyd Jr., age 80, passed away peacefully while in the care of Northwest Ohio Hospice Of Toledo, surrounded by his loving family. Although his passing was sudden, he departed this life wrapped in love and comfort, leaving behind a family deeply saddened by his loss.

Melveis was born January 25,1945, in Detroit, Michigan, to Melvies Floyd Sr. and Sarah Floyd. Affectionately known as "June," he was raised with a strong appreciation for hard work, family, and the simple joys of life-specially fishing. He graduated from Northeasten High School and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War era.

Following his military service, Melveis built a career as a skilled mechanic with the Detroit Department of Transportation, where he worked for many years. He later continued his working life as a Press Operator at Christy Cleaners. His dedication and work ethic were evident in everything he did.

ln 1969, Meiveis married Sandra Jean Porter. Together, they shared a few years of marriage and raised three children: Melaundra, Camille, and Nicole. A devoted and loving father, Meiveis instilled in his children the values Of perseverance, self-respect, and resilience, often sharing life lessons through his love of storytelling.

While his children were his greatest pride, his heart grew even fuller with the birth of his grandchildren, Casandra, William, and Bakari. He played an active role in their lives and cherished every moments spent with them. Some of his most treasured memories included walking them to and from school, taking them to watch him work at Christy Cleaners, and strolling to the store for their favorite snacks.

Melveis' passions included spending time with his family, fishing, watching football, and recounting stories about historical events and his own life experiences. His wisdom, humor, and warmth will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra; his parents, Melveis Sr. and Sarah Floyd; his brothers, Wallace, Jasper, and James Floyd; his sisters, Shiriey Montgomery and Demise Floyd; and his granddaughter, LaQuisha Floyd.

Melveis leaves to cherish his memory his children: Melaundra Gibson, Camille Floyd, and Nicole Floyd; his beloved grandchildren, Casandra Floyd, William Muny, and Bakari Murrie; and his nieces and nephews, Eric (Tiffiney) Floyd, Yvette Floyd, Monique Floyd ,and Jamin Montgomery.

Melveis Floyd Jr. will be forever loved, remembered, and honored for the legacy of love, strength, and family and friends he leaves behind.
