Melvin Olen Langley (Buddy), 83 of Russellville Arkansas, passed away Thursday, April 3, 2025, at Saint Mary's Hospital. He was born September 20, 1941, in Bearden Arkansas to W.O. and Rebecca Langley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife Linda Langley, second wife Mary Langley, mother-in-law Jessie Reed, son-in-law James Reed, stepdaughter Regina Holland, eight siblings.
Buddy's life was a shining example of the human spirit's capacity for growth and transformation.
Born at home in Southern Arkansas, he was nicknamed Buddy at a young age, and this name became a reflection of his adventurous and optimistic nature. Most people knew him by this name, rather than Melvin. He graduated from Bearden High School in 1960 and embarked on a journey of self-discovery in New Mexico, where he met Linda and started a family. Buddy's determination led him to become a certified electrician, and he worked diligently to provide for his family, including his daughter Regina. He balanced two jobs, working as an electrician by day and as the night manager at the local theatre.
Buddy and Linda shared a dream of returning to Arkansas, and after several visits, they made the move in 1969. Buddy secured employment at Conagra in 1970 and spent over 30 years working in maintenance as an electrician. Later in life, Buddy met Mary after Linda's passing in 1991, and they merged their two families, creating a new life filled with promise and possibility. Together, they cherished moments spent bowling, fishing, woodworking, and traveling together.
He is survived by his sister Edna Seales, daughter Regina Reed, stepdaughter Melissa Cothren, grandsons Vincent Reed and Shane Holland, Granddaughter’s Kassidy Cothren and Regan Gomez; Great grandchildren, Zander Holland, Jax Holland, Max, Hazel Hernandez and Jazper Gomez great great grandson Walker Holland, as well as several other family and friends.
Buddy's visitation will be Monday, April 7, 2025, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM at Russellville Family Funeral.
Funeral service will be 2:00 PM Monday, April 7th, 2025 at Russellville Family Funeral with burial following in St Paul Cemetery.
