Melvin Donald Bulk

Melvin Donald Bulk, 93, of Newaygo, formerly of Grand Rapids, passed away on October 30, 2022 at home. He was born on June 27, 1929 to Joseph and Hazel (Barnes) Bulk in Grand Rapids, Michigan. On October 12, 1957 he married Patricia Maksymowski in Ada, Michigan. Melvin was the owner/operator of Mel's Bar in Lowell, Michigan. He was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Newaygo. Melvin is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia, five sons: Donald Melvin (Jeannie) Bulk of Newaygo, Daniel M (Cynthia) Bulk of New Smyrna, FL, Dale M (Sherry) Bulk of Barryton, David M (Kimberly) Bulk of White Cloud, Douglas M (Stefanie) Bulk of Newaygo; daughter Dawn M (Gregg) Bourdon of Newaygo; 24 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, sister Dorothy Kwantes; and niece Joan (Patrick) Nagle. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson Derrek Bulk, great-granddaughter Zylie Faith Eaton, and 4 step-sisters. Visitation will be held Wednesday, November 2, 2022, 10:00 am - 11:00 am at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with the funeral mass at 11:00 am with Father Pete Schafer officiating. Burial will take place in the St. Patrick Cemetery in Ada, Michigan at 2:30 pm. Memorials are suggested to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
