Melvin Thomas Gee, age 72 passed away suddenly on February 6, 2024
As was Melvin's wish, no services will be held. "A Celebration of Life" to be determined at a later date.
Melvin was born on February 9, 1951 to Alvin and Wanda Gee.
Melvin graduated from John F. Kennedy High in 1969. He and Melanie were assigned the same home room. He attended Sacramento City College, where he obtained an Associate of Arts degree in 1971. Melvin went on to obtain a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Sacramento State (CSUS) in 1974. Melvin then embarked on a career with the State Of California in many positions over the span of 30 years. He ultimately retired from state service as a Budget Manager in the Administrative Services Division of the Department of Justice.
Before transitioning to the "working world", Melvin backpacked his way through Europe, most notably with his friend Albert Mar. Then Melvin and Melanie toured many European countries on their honeymoon. In his earlier days, Melvin bowled and skied. There was league bowling, in which he excelled. Skiing involved getting up very early and good knees, which when young is not difficult.
Throughout his life there was much travel, both abroad and national. Golf travel with family was a huge part of his life and Melanie's. In fact, more rounds of golf and more courses were played then actual sightseeing took place. Closer to home, Melvin was part of the Sacramento Chinese Seniors Golf Club (SCSGC) and the Sakura Senior Golf Club.
Melvin is survived by his cherished wife, Melanie Owyang Gee. Sisters' In Law: Shirley Gee and Madeleine (Lane) Owyang; Father In Law, Wallace Owyang; Nephews: Byron T. Gee (Ana), and Devin T. Gee
Predeceased: by his father and mother, Alvin and Wanda Gee; his brother, Morris Tom Gee; his Aunt, Mary Saito; his Mother In Law, Helen J. Owyang.
Any Remembrances may be made to the charity of choice.
