Delray Beach, FL
Melvin Yale Globus, of Boynton Beach, Florida, formerly of Providence, Rhode Island, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2023. He was 95 years old and recently celebrated this wonderful milestone with his entire family. Melvin spent 73 years doting on his wife Hope, whom he met at a dance at the Beachwood Hotel at Narragansett Pier 75 years ago. It was a fitting start to their love story, as Melvin's high school yearbook voted him "best dancer."
Melvin was born in Attleboro, Massachusetts and spent his youngest years on his family's farm. He mastered the art of hard work, appreciating the fruits of his labor but never forgetting from where he came. Melvin's high school career included captaining three varsity sports teams, where he not only excelled on the field, but also earned the respect of all those who knew him. Melvin began his college education at Michigan State where he was a member of the ZBT Fraternity. He then went on to graduate from Bryant College where he earned a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. Shortly thereafter, he was drafted by the U.S. Army to serve his country in the Korean War, which he did valiantly, retiring as a Second Lieutenant. His commitment to service continued when he later ran his own business, Attleboro Tire and Appliance. Upon moving to Florida, Melvin became an active member of the Tivoli Lakes Community, starring in multiple performances with the Tivoli Lakes Players.
For all his accomplishments, nothing brought Melvin as much joy as the moments he shared with his family. Melvin is survived by his beloved wife Hope, along with his two daughters, Sherri Orloff of Swampscott, MA and Patti Lackey and her husband Bud of Barrington, RI. He was the cherished grandfather of Marc (Anne) Orloff, Jaime (Adam) Feeney, Brad (Ali) Lackey, and Evan (Meghan) Lackey. He was the proud great grandfather of Daniel, Jonathan, Mason, Samara, Eliza, Avery, Thomas, and Siobhan. Melvin also leaves behind his nieces, nephews, cousins, and the extended Lackey family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, November 3, 2023, at the Priest Chapel in Lincoln Park Cemetery, 1469 Post Road, Warwick, RI 02888. Shiva will be held at 14 Great Rd. Barrington, RI on Friday from 2:00 until sundown.

I´ve never met a finer man like Melvin Globus. He was a real true old world gentleman and a mensch at that as well. He spoke eloquently, had the best manners and listened to everyone eagerly. I will forever remember how kind he was to me and that we had great conversations together. He treated his wife Hope of 73 wonderful years with the utmost respect. He was a genuine family man and I looked up to him greatly like a second father to me. May his memories last a lifetime.

Melvin (as his wife Hope would always call him) was one of the finest, gentle, kind human beings I have encountered in this world. He earned the respect and love of all those who met him. He had a strong moral compass.... knew right from wrong and yet never had a disparaging word to say about anyone. His love of family and friends was genuine and you felt it in the sincerity of his words. Sleep well, my sweet prince.... you will forever be remembered as "an old school royal gentleman". The word that comes to mind to describe Mel is mensch. He was the definition of a gentleman. He loved being in the Tivoli shows and participated until he could no longer do so. He was a family man who was lucky enough to spend seventy - three wonderful years with his wife, Hope.
May Mel rest in peace.
Love,

Melvin exuded love, patience, and family. He was the happiest with his family surrounding him. He was a peacemaker, a listener, and was kind and calm. He loved his wife Hope to the end of time and nothing made him happier than loving on his family. He will be missed. May his memory be eternal. Cheryl and Larry Solomon

Melvin Globus, always a gentleman. His voice was that of a professional announcer. His intelligence, kindness and caring preceded him always. In the years I´ve known Melvin, I have come to learn of a person who gave much to those he loved and in return received the respect and love of so many. We who knew him are fortunate as he was a most special human being whose life enhanced ours.
You will be remembered, Mel.
