Funeral services for Melvin Goforth will be held Thursday, June 13, 2024 at 1 p.m. from McClain-Hays Chapel with Rev. Mike Perkins officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Grove Cemetery in House Community. Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 12, 2024 from 3 p.m. until 8 p.m. at McClain-Hays Funeral Home. McClain-Hays Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Goforth, 70, of Union died Monday, June 10, 2024.
Melvin was born in Memphis, TN and moved to the House Community in Neshoba County when he was young and lived there for most of his life. He was a truck driver for over 40 years and enjoyed it the whole time. He loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren and he enjoyed being outdoors and fishing. Mr. Goforth was a member of Victory Fellowship Church in the Linwood Community.
Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Pam Goforth of Union; daughter, Mackenzie McManus of Union; son, Dillon Goforth (Holly) of Union; grandchildren, Lillian and Noah Savell, Hope Smith (Rell), River Goforth and Alex McManus; great-grandchild, Kaia Smith; sisters, Bonnie Thompson of Union, and Lisa Smith of Philadelphia; brothers, Louis and Larry Goforth both of Philadelphia; a host of nieces, nephew and their families.
Mr. Goforth was preceded in death by his parents, L.Z. and Catheline Goforth; and sister, Brenda Ellingburg.
Pallbearers Zach Perkins, Tristan Smith, Jacob Gilbert, Christian Wilson, Dalton Sellars and Noah Savell.
