Melvin grew up in
Kansas, Alabama.
He was called and served in Vietnam War as a Sargent over his Platoon.
He often made mention of the letters from home that kept coming from his
Mom, Ada Mae Tucker, Betty Jo Gilbert and Brenda Tucker. As a soldier
he said that he couldn't have made it through those days in his life without
the love in those letters from home. He served for more than 2 years in the
United States Army.
Melvin loved racing, enjoyed working on his cars, "spinning a wheel",
benefit car shows with his daughter and time with his friends. He took
pride in training his grandsons as shade tree mechanics. Melvin passed
down his talents and wisdom to as many of those that would give him their
time and was glad to do so.
He had a few bumps on the road of life, but lived a life to the fullest and
loved with a whole heart and offered so much wisdom to us all. He would
do anything for anybody and was to glad to stop to lend you a helping
hand. One of his best kept secrets was each year at Christmas to take a
trailer load of toys to Children's Hospital. He was a giver and had a
servants heart.
Melvin always had a smile, time and kind words to give you; and was an
amazing Family Man. Everyone that knew Melvin knew how special hew
was. He grew old but not up; and we all loved the child in Melvin! He
made everyone who knew him laugh, cry, and clap at all the stories he
shared. Melvin lived a full and warm life filled with love. To know him was
to LOVE him and to call him a friend was a blessing.
Our Dear Melvin, your presence brought joy to all who had the privilege of
knowing you. You will be deeply missed. See you again. This is not
goodbye!
