Melvin Pace Obituary

With deepest sympathy, we announce the passing of Melvin Parley Pace-a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend-who left us on November 27, 2025, at the age of 76. Melvin was born on December 28, 1948, in American Fork, Utah, to Jerry and Fern Pace (Day).

Melvin was known for his kind heart and his belief in leaving every place better than he found it. A devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he drew strength from his faith through life's joys and challenges. His love for sports was unmatched-whether refereeing basketball, umpiring for softball games or cheering on his favorite teams. He brought passion and energy to every moment. He was never shy about sharing his thoughts on a "bad" call!

A proud veteran, Melvin served honorably in Vietnam as a radio technician, earning two bronze and one silver commendation. His service was a source of pride, as he carried the values of courage and dedication throughout his life.

Nature was Melvin's sanctuary. He found peace in camping trips, quiet nights viewing the stars, drives with views of the mountains, reading a good book, or writing about his family history. Though he enjoyed hunting season, he never fired a shot-choosing instead to appreciate the beauty around him. His love for the outdoors reflected his gentle spirit and sense of wonder.

As the oldest of seven siblings, Melvin was a protective big brother and a steady presence for his family. His love extended to every earthly family member as he cherished each of us as heavenly gifts.

Melvin is survived by his children: Tanya (Bruce) Butcher, Lance (Joni) Pace, Shawn (Megan B) Pace, and Natalie (Dallin) Simpson; 24 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his siblings: Jerilene (Dan), Mark (Tara), Kevin (Madelyn), Brad (Solo), Suzanne (Neil) and Celia. He was preceded in death by his father Jerry, his beloved mother Fern, his sister Kenna, and his daughter Megan A. Pace.

In celebration of Melvin's life, we invite all who knew him to join us for the public viewing on Wednesday evening.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Anderson & Sons Mortuary Lone Peak Chapel, 6141 W 11000 North, Highland, UT. A viewing will take place Wednesday, December 3, from 6:00-8:00 PM, and again Thursday from 9:45-10:45 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow at Highland City Cemetery.
