Mel was predeceased by his wife Jean in 2012 and his daughter Joan. Surviving are his daughters; Susan Carrazana and her husband Alex, Aimee Pestrichello and her husband David, along with his five grandchildren, Nicolas, Maddy, Aidan, James and Jake.
A Viewing will be held on Thursday Jan 2nd, 2025 from 10-12 at Riggs Funeral Home, 130 North Route 9 Forked River, interment will follow in Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial, Wrightstown. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Lacey United Methodist Church, 203 West Lacey Road Forked River, NJ 08731 in Mel's memory.
