Melvin Sions Obituary
Melvin Leon Sions, age 76 of Shockey Road, Old Fields, WV, passed away Friday morning, January 24, 2025 at UPMC Western Maryland, in Cumberland, MD. Born on March 30, 1948 in Fisher, WV, he was a son of the late Delbert Otis Sions and Essie Marie Lofton Sions. His wife, Mimsi Marr Schrom Sions preceded him in death in January 2006. A brother, Weldon Sions and an infant sister also preceded him in death.
Known for his easygoing spirit and love of life, Melvin spent his working years as a Pump Room Technician at American Woodmark before dedicating his time to his beloved small farm. He had an eye for beauty—capturing the stunning vistas of Blackwater Falls and the everyday joys of nature through his camera lens. Saturday mornings were special for Melvin and Christopher, as they bonded over their shared passion for wrestling on TV.
Surviving is a son, Christopher Sions of New Albany, IN; four grandchildren, Jacob Sions, Chyann (Hector) Wolfrey, Kaitlyn (Terry) Laird and Jaymin Sions and a great-grandson, Terry Laird, IV.
In honor of Melvin's wishes, there will be a private family service following his cremation.
