In Loving Memory of Melvin Edwin Wall November 11, 1941 – June 26, 2025 With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Melvin Edwin Wall of
Covington, Tennessee, who entered eternal rest on June 26, 2025, at the age of 83. Melvin was born on November 11, 1941, in Clarksburg, Tennessee, to Valcour and Henry Wall. A lifelong Tennessean, he was raised in the Clarksburg community before moving to Memphis, where he met his wife, Joyce Faught. Together, they shared 62 years of marriage and raised two sons: Terry Russell Wall and Mark Edward Wall.
Melvin was widely known for his kindness, strong will, determination, unwavering loyalty, humor, and deep faith. He was a steadfast presence in the lives of his family, friends, and neighbors-always generous with his time, encouragement, and love. A devout Christian, Melvin was a dedicated member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church for over 50 years, faithfully serving as a deacon and supporting his church community with humility and grace. Throughout his life, Melvin worked in a variety of roles. He began his career at Sears, served in the Air Force, and went on to work at International Harvester. He later retired from Turner Dairy, after 27 years.
In his free time, Melvin found joy in the simple pleasures of life: golfing, fishing for crappie at Sardis Lake, cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals and Memphis Grizzlies, gardening, watching westerns, relaxing on his porch swing, and tending to his beloved flowers. Above all, he cherished the title "Pop" that he was promoted to. He enjoyed his time spent with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren-and especially the companionship of his wife, Joyce.
Melvin was preceded in death by his parents, Valcour and Henry Wall; his brothers, James and Burton Wall; and his sisters, Yvonne Tate and Martha Ross. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Faught Wall; his sons, Terry Wall (Karen) and Mark Wall (Buffy); four grandchildren: Logan Ross Wall (Lauren), Ellie Wall Hoffman (Heath), Kallie Wall Kirkpatrick (Andrew), and Curtis Edwin Wall (Raina); and six great-grandchildren: John Oliver Wall, Maddon Ross Wall, Kirby Thomas Wall, Chesley Lawrence Hoffman, Kip Elliott Hoffman, and Sevi Ann Kirkpatrick.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be sent to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.
