Wichita, Kansas - Melvin L. Wohlford, age 86, ret. Construction Superintendent, passed away Tuesday, November 29, 2022. Visitation, 9am-7pm, Thurs. Dec. 1, with family present from 5:30-7pm, Shinkle Mortuary, Haysville. Services, 10:30am, Fri, Dec 2, Haysville United Methodist Church. Preceded by his first wife, Shirley (Rausch) Wohlford; second wife, Thelma (Moore) Shinn Wohlford; parents, Ansel and Lillie (Reno) Wohlford; siblings, Bobby, Paul, and Charles Wohlford, Marjorie Wohlford, and Velma Anderson. Survivors: sons, Doug (Sheryl) Wohlford of Wichita, Mark (Kathy) Wohlford of Mulvane; sisters, Helen Keeling of Kingman, Laveda Schneider of Punta Gorda, FL; brother, Phillip (Judy) Wohlford of Cheney; grandsons, Jeff (Brandy) Wohlford and Jason Wohlford; great-grandson, Paxton. My prayers go out to Doug and Sheryl and the rest of the family. Both Melvin and Shirley welcomed me with open arms when I came to work for them. Definitely leaves a big hole in my heart.

Melvin hired me in May 1986 as a laborer . He told me that if I was going to stay in construction that I should go after his job as a Superintendent . And at that moment my career path was set . Now as a Superintendent there have been days when nothing is going right and I think back to that advice and think ,,,Melvin what were you thinking when you told me that ???? At that point I follow the advice of his grandson and say to myself , I Love my job , I Love my job , I Love my job . Over all it was good advice ,from a good man ,and a good family .
