Melvyn Allen "Mel" Abrams

Melvyn A. Abrams, age 83, was born on August 16, 1942, in Chicago, IL. Mel was a graduate of the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana, where he attended college and law school. He spent his freshman year on the Young Judea Course in Israel, and his junior year at the University of Vienna. He practiced as an attorney for five decades and turned his love of travel into a business, planning trips for family, friends and a Journey of Remembrance with members of Emanuel Congregation and his rabbi, mentor and friend, Herman Schaalman. He was a member of Emanuel for over 70 years. Mel was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Dorothy (née Pershing) Abrams (z"l). and his former wife Marsha Abrams (née Wolf) (z"l). Cherished father of Rachel Abrams (Pierre Sussman); adored grandfather of Sy and Izzy Sussman; dear brother of Linda Abrams. Funeral Tuesday November 11th, 1 PM at Emanuel Congregation, 5959 N. Sheridan Rd., Chicago, IL 60660. Interment to follow at Rosehill Cemetery-Section W-Chicago at approximately 2:30 PM.
