Obituary
Merax Cade Dockery, beloved son of Mickey Don Dockery Jr. of Seminole, Oklahoma, and Heather Glass of Maud, Oklahoma, was born May 5, 2000, in Ada, Oklahoma and passed away July 23, 2023, near Camp Lejeune, North Carolina at the age of 23. Merax attended Seminole Public Schools, graduating with the class of 2019. He loved to run, winning a state championship in cross country. Growing up Merax loved to be outdoors; swimming, fishing, riding skateboards and going to concerts were among his favorite things to do. He was a talented artist, particularly painting and drawing, he also learned to play guitar during his time in the Marine Corps. He loved Spiderman and Michael Myers. Merax was a proud member of the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma, Tusekia Harjo Band and a member of the Wind Clan.
Merax entered the United States Marine Corps in June of 2020. He did his bootcamp at the MCRD in San Diego, California, graduating on October 23, 2020. He graduated from his MOS training (Motor Vehicle Operator) at Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri. He then was stationed at Camp Lejeune North Carolina where he was part of the Marine Combat Logistics Battalion 2, Combat Logistics Regiment, and 2nd Marine Logistic Group. Merax began his 3rd year in the USMC on July 13, 2023. He planned to come back to Oklahoma.
Merax was an amazing, funny and personable guy. He was loved by many friends; his friends were also a part of his family too. He put a smile on anyone's face, and you could never walk away from him sad. He truly cared about others more than himself. We were all so very lucky to have experienced such a genuine soul.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Ricky L. Strayhorn; cousin, Ezekiel Dockery; uncle David Walker; and great grandmother, Ann Rusinski.
Merax is survived by his parents, Mickey Dockery Jr., and Heather Glass; sisters, Marcie Carolina and family, Faith Dockery and family, Micah Dockery, and Genesis Dockery and family; grandparents, Anthony and Kathleen Glass, Janet Strayhorn, and Mickey Dockery Sr.; uncle Brian Dockery and family; aunts Natasha Parks and family, Brandy Grant and family, and Jessica Millstein.
