Meredith Kimani Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Community Funeral Homes at Memory Gardens Cemetery - Guthrie on Feb. 11, 2026.
Meredith Denise (Hipshire) Kimani, affectionately known as Meggy, Mere, and sometimes Megadeath, lived a life marked by passion, creativity, and unwavering dedication to her family and friends. Born on March 24, 1976, in Wyandotte, Michigan, Meredith's life journey eventually led her to Guthrie, Oklahoma, where she passed away on February 8, 2026.

Meredith's early years in Michigan laid the foundation for a life filled with curiosity, love, and adventure. She was a bright light to her parents, Ben and Nancy Hipshire, and a beloved sister to Nancy and Carmen. Those who preceded her in death: her brother Adam Hipshire; her Aunt Michele Brown; her grandmother Betty Privett; her previous husband Alfredo Tapia; and her mother-in-law Becky Martinez, held special places in her heart and remained part of her story.

Meredith was the proud mother of four children: Alfredo Devon Christian Tapia, Isabella Gabrielle (Tapia) Ramirez, Alyssa Jenae Kimani, and Eric Kariuki Kimani. Her love only grew with the arrival of her grandchildren: Rebecca, Victoria, Alfredo, Damien, Theodore, Alexander, Sofia, and Markel - each of whom brought her immense joy. She also cherished her children's spouses, Tiffany and Josh, who were welcomed into her heart. Meredith served as an anchor to her extended family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and in-laws, all of whom were touched by her generosity, loyalty, and spirited nature.

A lifelong learner, Meredith pursued her education with determination and curiosity. She studied nursing at Oklahoma State University and explored film production, nurturing her artistic ambitions. Her professional journey reflected resilience and drive, beginning with COVID testing for commercial and film sets and evolving into roles as a set medic and locations manager. Meredith dreamed of writing and producing her own screenplay, fueled by her deep love of storytelling and creative expression.

One of Meredith's greatest callings was her fierce advocacy for individuals with special needs and disabilities. She was a compassionate and unwavering voice for inclusion, dignity, and equal opportunity. Whether navigating complex systems, offering guidance to families, or standing up when something was not right, Meredith refused to remain silent. She believed deeply that every person deserved respect, accessibility, and the chance to thrive. Her advocacy was not just a cause - it was an extension of her heart.

Meredith's spiritual life was as vibrant and eclectic as her personality. She found meaning in music of all genres, relished live concerts, and expressed herself through art and tattoos. Her love of crystals, Halloween, and the mystical reflected an open mind and a desire to engage deeply with the world around her. An avid reader and gifted conversationalist, Meredith's voice - warm, expressive, and unmistakable - was a source of comfort and connection to many.

Meredith Denise (Hipshire) Kimani leaves behind a legacy of love, creativity, and determination. She will be remembered for her infectious laugh, her vivid stories, and the fierce love she gave so freely. Her spirit lives on in the hearts of her family, friends, and all who were fortunate enough to know her.
