Meredith A. Prewitt, 87, of South Berwick, ME, passed away on Saturday, June 4, 2022, at Wentworth Douglass Hospital.
Born April 23, 1935, in Woonsocket, R.I, "Merry" was the oldest daughter of E. Thomas Robertshaw and Edith (Brown) Robertshaw. She moved to New Hampshire at age 13 and graduated from Somersworth High School in 1952. She was employed by Marshwood Jr. High School for 20 years.
Meredith is survived by her husband Robert C. Prewitt who she was married to for 67 years; two sons - R. Clay Prewitt and wife Kathy of York, ME, and Scott Prewitt and wife Karen of Gloucester, MA; four grandsons - Kyle Prewitt and wife Inmei, Michael Prewitt, Matthew Prewitt, and Connor Prewitt; three great grandchildren - Caleb, Cole, and Hazel; a sister, Janet Lagarde and husband Paul of South Berwick, ME; two brothers, E. Thomas Robertshaw and wife Helen of Rochester, NH, and Alan Robertshaw and wife Lois of South Berwick, ME; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and a brother, Lester Robertshaw.
Meredith enjoyed spending time with her entire family; she was especially proud of her grandsons and took great delight in her great-grandchildren. She loved her flower garden, walking, reading, crocheting, and embroidering.
Meredith will be remembered by family and friends for her sense of humor, kindness towards others and the strength she displayed while battling her illness.
In honor of Meredith's wishes, services will be private.
