Merle Johnson Obituary
Merle enlisted in the Army on the Buddy Plan with his friend, Bill Thompson.
Trained by the Combat Core of Engineers, they served in Korea and Vietnam.
With Heavy Equipment Operating Experience Merle came back home to work for the City of Ellensburg in the sewer department. His Army experience also lead to working with Aer-ex Inc. and Reecer Creek Excavating. In later years he worked and resided at the Lazy Ed Ranch in Ellensburg.
At the Kittitas County Fairgrounds Merle was the assistant groundskeeper for a while. Another part of work around the county was logging. Later on, he even built a log cabin. Being outdoors in the mountains and forests around Ellensburg hunting, fishing, or metal detecting brought him to places he enjoyed.
Merle will be interred next to his parents, Ted and Mildred, at High Valley Cemetery on August 3rd, 2024 at 10:00 am. 'May the Great Spirit hold him in the hollow of his hand'.
