Merlena Kaye De La Rosa Obituary

Published by Legacy on Jun. 16, 2023.
Merlena Kaye De La Rosa, our beloved "Nana", passed away in the comfort of her home on Wednesday evening, June 14th, 2023 at 9:30pm surrounded by family.
Merlena was born on September 30th, 1963 in Tempe, Arizona. As the daughter of Cleo Pherigo, she was the youngest of four siblings, Gena Bowling, Rusty Pherigo, and Kelly Pherigo.
She made her home in Gilbert, Arizona until recently relocating to Grand Junction, Colorado with her family. She spent over 30 years of her life dedicated to real estate. She had a natural talent, as she was independently driven and a real people person. Aside from her career, she was dedicated to rescuing animals, and had a natural gentleness to all creatures, big and small.
" Honor her with what her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gates."
Proverbs 31:31
She spent a lot of her days in her "she-shed", creating beautiful crafts anything vintage, floral, & shabby chic had her name written all over it. She took pride in anything she made from scratch with her hands, and she gifted so much of her creations to others to bring them joy.
Merlena was truly a friend to all. She was always the one people would intentionally call for advice, wisdom and support. She often expressed how blessed she was to have such a wonderful village of friends. Her family was her pride and joy, as she was an incredible wife, mother and nana. She is survived by her two grandchildren, Charlotte and Myla, who meant the absolute world to her.
" nothing can ever separate us from Gods love.." Romans 8:38
During her few brief months of battling cancer, she continued to inspire others with her positive attitude. She refused to let cancer define her, and she soaked in the time she had left with an outpour of love for those around her. She wasn't afraid, for she knew she would be home with Jesus.
"I can only imagine "
-Mercy Me
In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local animal rescue in honor of Merlena.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date in Colorado to honor her.
