Merlene Jackson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory - Huntsville on Mar. 30, 2026.
Merlene Jackson, 75, of Huntsville; passed away Friday, March 27, 2026, at home. She was born Monday, September 11, 1950, at Monahans, Texas; to John and Wynonna Cornelius Simmons Wright.

Merlene married John Michael Jackson on Saturday, December 14, 1968, at Huntsville; and together they were parents to two children. She was a devoted homemaker and a faithful member of the Huntsville Church of Christ. Merlene had a gentle spirit and took great pleasure in life's simple joys such as tending to her garden, preparing meals for those she loved, and spending peaceful days fishing. Her love for her family was at the heart of everything she did, and nothing brought her more happiness than being "Nana" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. She also cherished the time she shared on the farm with her beloved husband, John, creating a life filled with warmth, hard work, and treasured memories.

Merlene was preceded in death by her parents, John and Wynonna Wright.

She is survived by her husband, John Jackson, of the home; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeffery and Trinity Jackson, of Parma, Idaho; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Dion Litterell, of Huntsville; seven grandchildren, Mercedes Carter, Ariel Fitzner, Renee Weaver, Tristen Sloan, Madison Hall, Grace Jackson, and Sidney Jackson; and seven great-grandchildren, Lexus Carter, Blaine Kendrick, Kaelyn Carter, Charli Weaver, Cole Fitzner, Dixie Sloan, and Alice Fitzner. She is also survived by two sisters, Charlotte Woodland, of Louisville, Kentucky and Pat Alexander, of Omaha, Nebraska.

Graveside services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 4, 2026, at Aurora Cemetery with Jeff Thomas officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Josh Carter, Ethan Fitzner, Jeff Weaver, Clint Sloan, and Brayden Hall. Services are entrusted to Brashears Funeral Home and Crematory of Huntsville.
