Merleon Rose Creech, age 95, of Johnston County, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, September 9, 2025. Born on July 16, 1930, to the late B.L. Godwin and Merle Creech Godwin. Merleon lived a life of devotion, grace, and unwavering faith, always placing her family and community at the heart of everything she did.

A lifelong member of Pine Level Missionary Baptist Church, Merleon served faithfully in many capacities and found great joy in singing in the church choir. She was also a proud member of the Pine Level Women's Club, where she formed lasting friendships and contributed to the betterment of her community.

Merleon was a graduate of Peace College. After marrying her beloved husband, Bill Creech, the couple moved to San Antonio, Texas, where Bill served in the U.S. Air Force. During their time in Texas, Merleon worked for an insurance company. Upon returning to Pine Level, she joined her father at Pine Level Hardware and Furniture, managing the books. Following his passing, she became the owner of the business, which she continued to run with dedication until the end of her life.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 52 years, Bill Creech, and her beloved son, Will Creech.

Merleon is survived by her loving daughter, Terry Arthur and husband Richard of Pine Level; grandsons Elliot Arthur and wife Sherry, and Jonathan Arthur and wife Victoria; and her cherished great-grandchildren, Ellie Rose, Lillian Rae, William Clifton, and Elizabeth James.

Above all, Merleon will be remembered for her deep love for her family, her steadfast faith, and her lifelong commitment to her church and community. Her legacy of kindness, strength, and service will live on through all who knew and loved her.
