Merlin A. David

Merlin A. David, age 80, died Saturday, October 15, 2022 at his home.
Private family services will be held.
Merlin Anton David was born March 21, 1942 in Granville Township, Milwaukee Co., WI to Anton and Elaine (Howard) David. At the age of seven he moved to Nekoosa, WI and attended schools in Nekoosa until his graduation in 1960. Merlin was a superior performing athlete during his high school career. He continued to utilize his athletic abilities by coaching others in a variety of sports (softball, baseball, track, wrestling, basketball) for over 40 years of his life. He began the youth wrestling club in Nekoosa. Merlin was employed by Domtar Paper Company. He retired from Domtar, 44 years to the day as an oiler in the maintenance department.
Merlin was an avid hunter and outdoorsman who loved deer hunting season and rifle hunting with his granddaughter Ashley David.
Merlin married DeAnn Rae Smith on June 22, 1963 in Nekoosa, WI at the United Church of Christ. Together they had three children; Todd (Roxane) David, Peggy (William) Beer, Gary (Heather) David, five grandchildren; Craig (Hannah) Beer, Nichole David, Ashley David, Seth David, Ethan David, great-grandchild Milo Beer, siblings; Betty (Melvin) Heinz, Vernel (Vernon) Roberts, Karen (Jim) Cumberland, Bonnie (Pat) Kopelke, Anton David Jr. and is further survived by many nieces and nephews.
Merlin was preceded in death by his parents, siblings; Elaine (Ed) Douglas, Laverne (Dorothy) David, Dorothy Van Ert.
