Sarah F. Whitney

Sarah F. Whitney, age 77, of Nekoosa, WI, passed away on Friday, October 31, 2025, at her home surrounded by her family.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, November 8, 2025, at Feldner/Ritchay Funeral Home in Nekoosa, WI. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 9:00am until the time of service.
Sarah was born on August 10, 1948, in Tomahawk, WI, to Ike and Jean (McCrum) Steinbach. She graduated from Alexander High School. Sarah married James Whitney on December 9, 2009. She worked at Wood Trust Bank for many years.
Sarah cherished spending time with her family. She was a devoted wife to her husband, Jim, who lovingly cared for her at their home. She was a proud and loving mother and grandma who treasured every moment with her grandkids. Sarah enjoyed riding on the Harley and dancing with Jim. She had a love for music, especially oldie music and classic country western- the timeless songs of Patsy Cline and Frank Sinatra. Sarah's smile lit up any room, she could strike up a conversation with anyone, and to know her was truly to love her.
Sarah is survived by her loving husband, Jim Whitney; children, Heidi Vicente, Casey Clark (Rachel), Heather (Pierrot) Mpemwangi, and Jason (Mike) Whitney; grandchildren, Xavier Vincente, Avery Vicente (Cassie), Olivia Mpemwangi, and Mia Mpemwangi; great grandchild, Azaria Vincente; and siblings, Sandy Steinbach, Sharon Steinbach, Suzy (John) Zielonka, Shelly Hale, Sonia Lewis, Les (Lisa) Smith, and Deann David; brother-in-law, Tom (Lori) Whitney; sisters-in-law, Karlene Helmuth and Sandy (Wayne) Getzloff; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ike and Jean Steinbach; and brother-in-law, Joe Helmuth.
The family would like to thank St. Croix Hospice, and the tender care provided by Gail Nordeman, Kristin, Kris, Joanne, and Meggan.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Sarah's name to Dementia Society of America.
