Charles Lee Normand, 66, of Wausau, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loved ones on November 15, 2025. He was born on July 18, 1959, in Wausau and graduated from Marathon City High School.
Charles was known by everyone who loved him as a straightforward, honest, and dependable man - a no-nonsense "tell-it-like-it-is" kind of person. Yet beneath that tough exterior, he was deeply accepting of others, caring, and remarkably empathetic. His genuine heart and steady presence made him someone people trusted and admired.
On April 21, 1990, Charles married his wife, Lori (Trempe) Normand, recently celebrating 35 years of marriage. She was the love of his life. He was a devoted husband and father to their three children. He spent many a summer four-wheeling, camping, and fishing with them. In the fall months, he loved to hunt, which also taught them the respect and safety of hunting. Winter months were spent snowmobiling as a family. When their children were grown up then it was time for plenty of road trips on the motorcycle with his wife. They also participated in numerous charitable rides with friends he called family.
A dedicated and hardworking man, Charles spent 44 years at 3M, beginning in December 1978. He started in the main plant and worked his way up to becoming a heavy equipment operator. He also served for many years as the union secretary and representative, earning the respect of countless coworkers through his integrity and commitment.
But above all, his greatest joy in life was spending time with his grandchildren, who brought him endless pride and happiness.
He is survived by his wife, Lori Normand, siblings Tony Normand, Paul Normand (Becky), and Maureen Anklam. his children Joshua Normand, Dakota Normand, and Stephanie LaPean; and his cherished grandchildren Tucker, Gavin, Ariana, and Gemma. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
Charles was preceded in death by his brother Michael and his parents, Maurice Normand and Carol Schilling.
Our family would like to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Palliative Care at Aspirus and Compassus for their hospice care.
A service in honor of Charles will be held at John J. Buettgen Funeral Home in Schofield, Wisconsin, on Sunday, November 23, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Family and friends are invited to come and share a memory in his honor.
Charles will be remembered for his loyalty, his kindness, and the love he shared with his family and friends. His memory will live on in the stories told, the lessons learned, and the hearts he touched throughout his life.
