She was born August 14, 1942 in Sharon, the daughter of Merle and Francis Burns Fell.
She was a homemaker most of her life, only working as a kitchen aide at Meadowbrook Manor for a while. Merlyn attended Burghill Baptist Church.
In 2001, she was preceded in death by her husband, George Richards, whom she married in 1976.
She is survived by 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and nieces.
She was also preceded in death by her daughter, April Zedaker and three brothers, Lyle, Richard and Dale Fell.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, March 31, 2026, at the Westview Cemetery, Vernon Township, at 11 a.m. with Rev. MaryAnn Rufener officiating.
