Mertie Louise Terrell McGhee was born to Ruth Bailey and Eddie Lee Edwards on December 30, 1954 in
Memphis, TN.
She was united in Holy Matrimony to Angelo McGhee, the love of her life.
At an early age she accepted Christ, at Golden Rule Church pastored by the late Pastor Morris Payne. She later became a member of Union Grove Holiness Church pastored by the late Bishop J W Bracy. After his transition she remained a faithful member of Union Grove Holiness New Creation now pastored by Bishop Joshua Bracy until her death.
She attended Booker T Washington High School. She was a healthcare worker at Guardian Community Living for 14 years. Because of her love to care and nourish people, she had deep compassion for those in need. She had a passion to feed the homeless during the holidays and provide them with food and personal necessities.
She was a women of deep faith and radiant joy, and passed away peacefully from this life, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and unwavering devotion. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friend whose presence brought comfort and light to all that knew her. Mertie's life was anchored in her love for the Lord. Her faith was not just spoken it was sung, especially in her favorite hymn, "If It Had Not Been For Jesus" Her voice carried the spirit of her beliefs, and her heart overflowed with gratitude and praise. She found joy in life's simply pleasures sipping on a cold Sprite Zero, sharing a meal of KFC chicken, and chewing her gum. She also spending time with those she loved. Her laughter is infectious, her spirit unshakable, and her kindness boundless. Mertie taught us how to live with grace, how to love without condition, and how to hold on to faith through every season. Though she is no longer with us in body, her spirit lives on in every song sung, every prayer whispered, and every memory cherished.
Forever loved. Forever missed. Forever in our Hearts
