Mervyn Kaeding Obituary

He married Marianna R. Vaughn on November 6, 1955 in Piper City and she survives. Also surviving are four daughters, Kate (Bob) Schwarz of Ottawa, Judy (Ron) Schwarz of Piper City, Lori (Bruce) Kietzman of Paxton and Shelly (Tom) Harrell of Forrest; two sisters, Becky (Eric) Warlow of Thawville and Cheryl (Ron) Best of Sarasota, FL; two brothers, Dennis (Mary) Kaeding of Onarga and David Fuoss of Thawville; three sisters-in-law, Betsy Kaeding of Piper City, Kathy Kaeding of Port Washington, WI and Ruddieann Kaeding of Onarga; eleven grandchildren, Jackie Gerling, Jamie Bond, Jodie Goetz, Nikki Elvidge, Kari Maubach, Keli Aremu, Craig Kietzman, Cody Kietzman, Matthew Harrell, Mitchell Harrell and Mason Harrell; and twenty great-grandchildren.
Mr. Kaeding was a member of St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thawville and Piper City American Legion Gibb Post #588. He served in the U.S. Army. Mervyn was a farmer, manager at Ford-Iroquois FS in Cullom, manager at Home Guarantee Savings & Loan in Piper City and employed at the Natural Gas Plant in Herscher. He enjoyed farming, cattle and horses.
Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the 11:00 am funeral service on Thursday, February 16, 2023 at St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thawville. Rev. Brian King will officiate. Burial will follow at Ridgeland Twp. Cemetery in Thawville with military graveside rites by the Piper City American Legion Gibb Post #588.
Memorials may be made to St. Peter Evangelical Lutheran Church in Thawville or Transition Hospice Care.
Arrangements are by the Knapp-Redenius Funeral Home in Gilman.
