Micaela Sanchez Fuentes entered eternal rest peacefully at home on Saturday, February 24, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones. She was born on January 23, 1930, in
San Marcos, Texas to Juan and Guadalupe Sanchez. She was the oldest of eight children. She married Carlos Fuentes on April 9th, 1949. Together, they welcomed ten wonderful children. This was the foundation of what would grow into an extraordinary family. She was a true matriarch and lived a beautiful life.
As a dedicated and courageous woman, Micaela was a role model for maternal love. She cherished her roles as mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother with unparalleled grace and tenderness. Her love of her enormous family had no limitations, as she fiercely loved everyone. Micaela's warmth and infectious humor endeared her to all who knew her. Her joy was contagious and she welcomed everyone into the family with open arms. There was room for everyone at her table. She truly enjoyed watching her family grow. Her Catholic faith joyfully guided her throughout her life and she took great pleasure in being an active member of her parish community. Micaela found solace in her early life in the simplicity of gardening and the artistry of embroidery. She loved feeding her family with her famous homemade "tortillas de harina". One of her favorite past times was playing Mexican bingo (loteria) with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and she had no problem taking their money and making jokes while collecting her winnings. She also enjoyed the occasional visits to the casinos, and she didn't mind taking their money either.
Micaela is survived by eight of her children and spouses: Jose(Maria), Maria, Guadalupe Montoya, Alejandro(Ramona), Ebelio (Graciela), Minnie, Lydia (Charles) Sturm and Norma(Frank) Vazquez. She had 34 grandchildren and countless great- grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
Micaela was preceded in death by her husband Carlos, her parents Juan and Guadalupe Sanchez, brother Pedro Sanchez, son Carlos, daughter Emma and husband Carlos Santos, grandson Adolfo Montoya and great-grandson Adrian Uvina.
As we gather to say farewell to Micaela, her legacy of love, kindness, and laughter will continue to flourish as her memory will be kept alive in the depths of the hearts of the many who knew and loved her. Visitation will begin at 5 pm followed by a Rosary at 7 pm on Wednesday, March 6th, 2024, at Klein Funeral Home Chapel in Magnolia. The Funeral Mass will be on Thursday, March 7th, at 12 noon at St. Matthias Catholic Church in
