Michael Norman Aronin, age 83, was born in 1941 to Sylvia and Jack Aronin. As a young child Michael lived in Ozone Park, Queens with his parents, grandparents and younger sister, Joy (Fishman). When he was 14, they moved to East Meadow, Long Island and Michael graduated with honors from East Meadow high school. He earned his Bachelor's in psychology from NYU and his MBA from Pace University. Immediately after college, he served in the Navy for 4 years. He met his future wife, Carol, during college and they married in 1963. Michael and Carol enjoyed 61 years of marriage, raising their 2 children Lisa and Matthew in Syosset, NY. He worked in advertising and marketing for 30 years for Clairol (Bristol Myers), Citibank, and The NY Mets. Later in life he discovered his real passion and talent as a career coach. He loved helping his clients find new career opportunities until he retired in 2010.
In his spare time, Michael loved going to concerts (especially classical and jazz), as well as art museums and theater. He was an avid reader of history and read the NY Times every day. He was a dedicated runner for 30 years, no matter the weather, and when his doctor told him he shouldn't run anymore, he joined a gym and went religiously. He loved watching baseball, basketball and football – especially the Mets and Giants. Michael was a talented artist, who enjoyed painting, drawing and photography. He and Carol loved dancing together at any occasion and appreciated being able to travel to many beautiful places together including France, Italy, Poland, Belgium, Israel, Venezuela, Mexico and Canada. Michael was an active member of Midway Jewish Center for many years and helped to organize a program which provided food and other necessities to disadvantaged families. He also volunteered to counsel people who were searching for jobs through a program called the Five O'clock Club.
Michael was a proud and adoring grandfather to his 4 grandchildren and looked forward to spending time with them, especially to celebrate holidays together. He was always interested in hearing about what they were doing and loved talking to them about sports, music, academics and later, their jobs.
Michael will be remembered for his sarcastic sense of humor, reserved and caring manner, strong work ethic, and love for family, friends and chocolate. He is survived by his wife, Carol; his children Lisa (and Eric) Wolfeiler, Matthew (and Jill) Aronin; his grandchildren Rachel Wolfeiler (and Jake Moldowsky), Daniel Wolfeiler, Colin Aronin and Drew Aronin; and his sister Joy (and Stephen) Fishman.
