Michael C. "Mike" Atkinson, age 65, a resident of Pingree Grove, IL, former longtime resident of Naperville, IL, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2024, at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL. He was born July 11, 1958, in Geneva, IL.
Beloved husband of Cynthia W. Atkinson (nee Rapp), whom he married March 4, 1989, loving father of Andrew (Lucy) Atkinson, Mathew Atkinson and Ronald "RJ" Atkinson, devoted son of the late Rita Ann (nee Fay) and Ronald N. "Ron" Atkinson, dear brother of the late Thomas (Kathy) Atkinson, Neil Atkinson, Joanie (Tim) Krings, Patrick (Beth) Atkinson and the late Mary (Al) Gerber, adored uncle of Kari Atkinson; Christopher and the late Timothy Atkinson; Jennifer Atkinson and Edward Coldwate, Jr.; Caitlin and Thomas (Lexi) Atkinson and Charlie Gerber, cherished great-uncle of many, nephew of Thomas J. (Regina) Fay, the late Patricia (the late Joseph) Egelhof, the late Betty J. (the late Clare) Reuter, the late Everett "Bill" Atkinson, the late Ralph "Red" (the late Carol) Atkinson and Patricia "Trish" Starkey, cousin, and friend of many.
Mike was a Proud Marine who became a Sergeant. He was also very proud of his sons and the men they became. Mike was in outside sales of construction equipment for many years. He had a great sense of humor and loved to share a joke. Golf was his passion and he enjoyed playing with his sons and friends, he will be dearly missed by family and friends.
A celebration of Mike's life will be held Saturday, June 29, 2024, 3:00-7:00 PM at Warrenville Memorial VFW Post 8081, 3S371 Mignin Dr, Warrenville, IL 60555 (630) 393-2442.
